History

Helen I. Roth was named Sugarloaf Township’s historian at the Sugarloaf Township Supervisor Meeting on February 14, 2012. Helen was presented a framed resolution from Sugarloaf Township’s Chairman of the Board John C. Wittig. The resolution reads as follows:

Wheras, Helen I. Roth, is a life-long resident of the township of Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania;and

Wheras, she has taken great pride and joy in documenting and preserving the history of Sugarloaf Township, and the entire valley area; and

Wheras, she has created a compilation of Sugarloaf Township’s history through her own photography, memories, literature, and folklore as a lasting testament for present and future generations; and

Wheras, she has graciously and generously shared her love of the township’s historical knowledge with the citizens of Sugarloaf Township and surrounding communities,

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors of Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, to hereby recognize and honor Heleon I. Roth by naming her as Township Historian, by duly enacting Resolution No. 11 of 2012 this 14th day of February 2012.
